Queens, NY (October 31, 2020) – On Friday evening, October 30, a fatal pedestrian accident took place at an intersection in Queens.
The accident, according to police, took place at the intersection of 164th Street and Jamaica Avenue when a motor vehicle struck the pedestrians around 5:30 p.m. A driver lost control of their vehicle, slamming into a pole and then striking two victims.
The victims were identified as an 8-year-old girl and a 54-year-old woman. Both of the victims were severely harmed and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, who has not yet been identified, remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with authorities. The driver did not have injuries.
Police have since said that the pedestrians were not related to each other.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the crash continues.
