Brooklyn, NY (December 10, 2020) – On the night of Wednesday, December 9, a fatal pedestrian accident happened in Brooklyn involving a hit-and-run driver.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of East 55th Street and Glenwood Road in Brooklyn. A 53-year-old woman was crossing the intersection around 10:16 p.m. when she was struck by a passenger vehicle.
According to police, 22-year-old Michael Rajpaul was in a Hyundai and fleeing the scene of an earlier accident with a BMW sedan when the pedestrian accident took place. He was traveling in the wrong direction at the time. He also struck a Honda sedan after striking the pedestrian.
The woman was seriously injured and rushed to Kings County Hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries while there.
Rajpaul has since been charged with manslaughter, assault, and reckless driving.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
