Ronkonkoma, NY (May 5, 2021) – Around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, a man was killed in a fatal truck crash in Ronkonkoma.

According to Suffolk County officials, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway. At the time, a 2018 Honda sedan struck a 2017 Nissan sedan while both of the vehicles were trying to turn left onto Exit 60.

Both of the drivers of the vehicles got out to check and see if either of the parties were injured and then got back into their vehicles. The driver of the Honda, who has since been identified as 29-year-old Stephen Neville, was struck by a FedEx cargo truck after entering his vehicle. He was immediately ejected onto the roadway.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Neville was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of traumatic injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, who has since been identified as 19-year-old Xavier Rodriguez, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The roadway was blocked in all eastbound lanes for a period of time as police cleared the scene.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
