Bronx, NY (December 22, 2020) – Around 2:20 p.m. on the aftermath of Monday, December 21, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash took place in the Bronx.
According to local officials, the accident took place at the intersection of Mace Avenue and Eastchester Road when two victims were struck by a passenger vehicle. The 62-year-old female pedestrian was pushing her 2-year-old grandson in a stroller in a marked crosswalk with a green light. A man in a GMC Terrain Denali made a turn at the intersection, striking the two.
The driver of the vehicle initially stayed at the scene and exited the vehicle. However, he then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of a bruised leg while the boy received a head injury. They are both expected to be okay.
Police are still looking for the driver responsible for the accident. Their investigation is currently ongoing.
