Brooklyn, NY (November 15, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman was injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Brooklyn.

The accident took place at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Putnam Avenue when a 50-year-old identified as Omme Farhana was crossing the street. The crosswalk read “walk” when she started to head across the roadway with her uncle. She was walking home with him from her job at a restaurant.

Police confirmed that a vehicle did not stop at the crosswalk and breezed through, striking Farhana and her uncle. Her uncle was able to get up but she was badly injured as a result. The vehicle carried her down the block where she was then thrown onto the sidewalk.

Before the responsible driver fled the scene, they swerved and struck both a pole and a gate. The driver and three other men got out of the vehicle and started to run from the scene of the accident. Police believe that the driver may have stolen the car and they have not yet found the men who fled the scene.

Farhana is still in the hospital and will receive multiple surgeries due to severe trauma.

The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
