Brooklyn, NY (October 2, 2021) – At 11:20 p.m. on Friday night, October 1, a serious house fire occurred in Brooklyn that led to injuries.

According to the FDNY, the fire broke out in a three-story home on 45th Street. Fire crews did not say where the fire began. However, when they arrived at the home, they found that it was engulfed in flames and smoke. Several people on the third story were unable to get to safety and jumped out of windows to get to safety. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control by 12:05 a.m.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. A total of sixteen people were injured in the accident. Four of the victims, including a 4-year-old boy, were critically injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment. None of their conditions are known at this time.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Fires in New York

Fires are more common in New York than many other states throughout the U.S. These incidents occur in the blink of an eye in both residential and commercial areas. The truth is, many fires can be prevented but continue to occur due to the recklessness of others. In some cases, fires lead to some of the most severe injuries. Smoke inhalation and burn injuries can land a victim in the hospital for an extended period of time as they attempt to get back on their feet. If you have been injured in a house fire caused by another party, you have options. It is crucial that you have the dedicated help of a legal advocate on your side.

Being hurt in a fire can impact your life in a variety of ways as you attempt to get back on your feet. You may have questions that you cannot answer on your own without an attorney on your side. For instance, what evidence do you need to show that another party is at fault for your accident? What deadlines will you be required to meet as you move forward with your fire claim? What should you say when you speak with the insurance company for the first time? These are questions that you can answer when you speak with a Brooklyn fire accident attorney.
