Harlem, NY – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at E 120th St and Third Ave

Harlem, NY (November 6, 2020) – Around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday evening, November 5, a fatal pedestrian crash occurred in Harlem.

According to authorities, the accident took place at the intersection of East 120th Street and Third Avenue when a man was struck by a passenger vehicle. Witnesses said that the driver swerved around another vehicle while driving through the intersection, which is when they struck the pedestrian. The vehicle was identified as a white Mercedes, which drove away from the scene and was found about three blocks away.

The pedestrian, who has since been identified as a 28-year-old man, was found unconscious by paramedics and police. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver was soon found and identified as 43-year-old Marcos Villegas. He now faces a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
