Manhattan, NY (November 29, 2020) – Around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday morning, November 29, a serious car crash took place in Manhattan.
According to the New York Police Department, the accident took place on Fifth Avenue in the area of Washington Square Park. An unidentified male driver was traveling on Fifth Avenue near the area of the Washington Square Arch when he lost control of his vehicle traveling at a high speed. His vehicle struck a police cruiser that was parked in the area.
Police confirmed that the cruiser was badly damaged as a result of the accident. The unidentified police officer inside received neck and back injuries. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver of the other vehicle was allegedly driving while intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was arrested and is expected to receive charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
