Queens, NY (February 15, 2021) – Around 1:15 a.m. on Monday, February 15, an adult and child were killed in a house fire in Queens.

According to authorities, the incident took place at a two-story home on 157th Street around the area of 45th and 46th Avenues. It is not known why the fire started but it allegedly ripped through the home very quickly. Sixty firefighters from 12 units were called to the scene and got the fire under control within an hour.

When fire crews were able to get inside the home, they found a 6-year-old child and 65-year-old Stephen Blumling unresponsive. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the child’s twin brother was taken to the hospital for treatment at the burn center. Two others were injured but have not yet been identified.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victims at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
