Staten Island, NY – Firefighter Injured in House Fire on Mason Ave

Staten Island, NY (April 1, 2021) – Around 7:28 p.m. on Wednesday evening, March 31, one person was injured in a house fire in Staten Island.

According to police, the fire took place in a home at 1150 Mason Avenue. Due to the severity of the fire, approximately 25 units and 106 firefighters were at the scene. The fire was completely under control by 9:39 p.m. but the home was severely affected.

Paramedics were present at the scene and discovered that one firefighter was seriously injured as a result. He was transported to Staten Island University Hospital but is expected to be okay. One civilian also suffered minor injuries but denied treatment.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
