Staten Island, NY (December 27, 2020) – Around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday morning, December 27, three people were injured in a Staten Island apartment fire.

According to police, the incident took place at 555 McClean Avenue inside a 6-story apartment building owned by the New York City Housing Authority. Police have not yet said what caused the severe fire to break out across the building.

FDNY responders were dispatched to the scene where they found that flames initially broke out in a first-floor hallway. They found that multiple residents were still inside the home and ran inside to help those in need.

Three civilians from inside the apartment building suffered from injuries, though their conditions are not yet known. The parties were immediately hospitalized.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
