Queens, NY – Injuries in Firetruck Crash at 61st St & Queens Blvd Intersection

Queens, NY (August 2, 2021) – At 4:13 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, August 1, a firetruck crash with injuries occurred at an intersection in Queens.

According to local officials, the accident happened at the intersection of 61st Street and Queens Boulevard. An FDNY firetruck was traveling in the area when the vehicle entered the intersection, colliding with a passenger vehicle for unknown reasons. The vehicles involved in the crash sustained damages as a result.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. Five firefighters, as well as two civilians, were injured in the crash. The victims were taken to local hospitals but they are expected to recover.

Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was entirely blocked for a short period of time.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
